“Stowarzyszenie Benek” is asylum for 300 wild and domestic animals (cats, dogs, kangaroos, emu, ostriches, camels and more).

It is a special type of animal shelter taking care of animals that does not fit into regular shelters, e.g. horses, cows, pigs, racoons or even a porcupine. It is home for abandoned, sick, neglected and old animals, which mostly used to be forced to work in circus or do different type of involuntary and exhausting work. Nobody wants them now because they are overworked and became inefficient. Benek gives them second life - treats their bodies and heels their hearts surrounding them with love, respect and safety.

The cost of maintenance of this shelter is 54 000 PLN per month! Due to pandemic they lost several sponsors who used to support them on a regular basis. In order to reduce costs, they also decided to release the only employee they had. Their financial situation is so bad, so that they are struggling to provide food to all inhabitants.
